| Background: | In this increasingly global village, it is common for UPEI students to develop skills and experience in other parts of the world. These experiences enhance what our students learn in the classroom, but, just as importantly, contribute to building character and deepening life lessons. International study and job opportunities help students learn to care about different cultures across the globe, and to become not just ordinary but extraordinary in their professions. The experience enh
ances their academic study, is a valued addition to their resume (particularly in today's global market) and is often the first step in a lifetime of curiosity and investigation in the broader global community for these students. This experience also leads to lifelong international partnerships and relationships, which is extremely important given that today's global student is tomorrow's skilled worker or entrepreneur. And, when they come back, these students are often compelled to give back to the Island
through community service.
The City of Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, home to UPEI, is establishing The City of Charlottetown International Ambassador Award to contribute to the enhancement of internationalization activities on campus and to offer a student the opportunity to participate in a bilateral exchange experience with one of UPEI's partner institutions. The student will act as an ambassador for the City during the time abroad. The City of Charlottetown and the University welcome this collaboration. |
