| Background: | The Little Red School House (LRSH) is a Teacher Resource Centre in the Western School Board. It was founded in 1974 so teachers would have a Resource Centre and is made up of a Board of Directors, a Chairperson, and a Coordinator. All teacher requests are handled by the Coordinator. Resources are constantly updated by the Board and teacher requests. LRSH has a contact teacher in each school who acts as a liaison between the school and LRSH.
Dorothy Campbell, a retired teacher, was one of the first coordinators of LRSH and a great promoter of the Centre. Dorothy's life was cut short when she died of injuries suffered in a car accident so the Board later established the Dorothy Campbell Memorial Award to be given each year to a student in third year education who, in the opinion of the Faculty, shows strength, creativity, and promise as a class room teacher. |
