Every year, we seek out energetic, spirited and committed individuals to help lead our NSO. To be a leader, please send an email to nso@upei.ca. For those first years wishing to get a sneak peek of some of the people they’ll be meeting, here are the captains to your NSO teams:
Whitney Kelly Clarke and Luke Hennessey: Team White
- Whitney - When not tormenting Aphrodite’s cupids or chirping the “champions” of Athena, Whitney can be found at the Atlantic Veterinary College working on her Masters’ Research Project. Whitney and fellow thief Lukas Hennessey have recently stepped up their A-game and moved on from plundering Hermes’ winged sandals to pull off the mother of all heists, and nab the thunderbolts of Zeus. With this newly acquired power, Whitney intends to lead Team White to victory alongside her trusty partner-in-crime, Lukas.
- Luke Hennessey, co-captain of Team White hopes to harness the energy of Zeus's Thunderbolts to rule Mt. Olympus at NSO 2010! Luke is currently entering fourth year at UPEI, studying biology in the faculty of science. Luke works in the PEI National Park as a resource conservation student. In his spare time he enjoys travelling, eating, going to the gym and playing ukulele. For Zeus's Thunderbolts, the sky is the limit!
Lindsay Elson- Team Purple
Steph Carragher- Team Dark Blue
- Stephanie Carragher plans to lead her fellow Royal Blue merpeople in the adventure of an NSO lifetime by conquering both the Island and the sea. When safe from Poseidon’s raging earthquakes and storms at sea, she is a fourth year Biology major at UPEI. Not unlike the mythical merpeople in Poseidon’s oceans, Stephanie loves music, but knows that merpeople can be perceived as dangerous omens… So be forewarned: Never underestimate team Royal Blue at this year’s New Student Orientation!
Luke Rowledge and Mitzi Mitchell- Team Lime Green
- Luke Rowledge, a 4th year Business student, has worked closely with Nike, the goddess of Victory, every year since his entrance into UPEI’s Mt. Olympus. Working alongside the winged goddess, Luke has spent his existence working to bring victory to those deserving, while also creating fresh shoe designs for development and sale in the mortal world. The company has been quite successful. It has been prophesied that one day Luke will leave his place among Nike, and descend to the land of mortals to bring victory to NSO’s Lime Green Team over their challengers . . . ultimately securing their place among the gods for the semesters to come!
Josh Gallaway and Steph Lane- Team Light Blue
- As a fourth year Science student at UPEI, Steph (like her great leader Hermes) looks out for fellow athletes to help them stay healthy. She is majoring in Foods and Nutrition, with a minor in Family Science. Also like Hermes, she is a messenger of sorts, passing along the message of nutrition and health to all. As a member of the Light Blue Hermes’ Harbingers, I have a message for all the other teams; LIGHT BLUE IS GOING TO SOAR, BECAUSE WE’RE SO MUCH MORE!
Jeff MacDougald and Christa Masson- Team Dark Green
- Jeff MacDougald is a 3rd year bio student from Charlottetown. His hobbies include student council, rocking out with his band Sunday Punch, and singing in the UPEI choir. He's currently working at Avonlea Village in Cavendish as Gilbert Blythe from the novel Anne of Green Gables. He looks forward to meeting his team, and having absurd amounts of fun this coming NSO!
- Amidst the vast wilderness of UPEI’s forests, you’ll find the fourth-year Mathematics and Engineering huntress Christa Masson. Among her wild animal friends, Christa enjoys meditating, biking and singing choral music. The precision of her bow and arrow can only be matched by her charm and wit (not to mention good looks), penetrating the heart of NSO with awesomeness!
Leanne Doiron and Jonathan Millington- Team Pink
- Jon became involved with NSO as a frosh in his first year, had a blast, and has kept coming back since. While his normally studious nature would have him doing some advanced reading before school starts, he’s decided to set his Business and French textbooks aside for the moment to lead the Pink Team to glorious victory! Huzah!
- Leanne is excited to be joining NSO this year as a Captain of Team Pink. She is currently a third year Bio major and Environmental Studies minor student. She is hoping to take this into the Education department, where she will receive an education degree. Along with school, she enjoys reading, listening to country music, hanging out with friends, and playing sports. She’s ready to help all of you define your legacy at this year’s NSO!
Becca Bellefontaine- Team Orange
Danielle MacDonald and Jason Hogan- Team Red
- Jason - When not trouncing about the sea with the Argonauts or at home knitting with the Golden Fleece, Jason attends UPEI as a bachelor of science student. Jason's legendary skills come from his black-belt in Taekwondo, his mad Rubik's cubing and his intricate fourth year knowledge of chemistry. This year, Jason is on vacation from more gripping adventures with the Argonauts to lead the equally adept Titan Warriors in this year's New Student Orientation.
Nicole Lane and Jordan Rowledge- Team Yellow
- Nicole - A team known for light, sun, truth, prophecy, medicine, healing, plague; these are the traits of Apollo and Team Yellow. So beware, the Suns of Apollo are coming for you! Have fear for what hides in the shadows! As captain, and close affiliate of Apollo, Nicole Lane will be leading the fearful team to Victory!
