Student Exchange 2009 - The deadline for receipt of applications is March 6, 2009.

EDGE (Experiences Diversity Growth Exchange) is a new student exchange program between Ryerson University (www.ryerson.ca) and the University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI). The program offers a new dimension, or "edge," to the university experience, providing students with diverse academic, research, and leadership opportunities.

EDGE offers Ryerson students the opportunity to spend a semester at UPEI and to experience the rich culture and heritage of Prince Edward Island and Atlantic Canada. EDGE offers UPEI students the opportunity to spend a semester at Ryerson University, one of Canada's leaders in career-focused university education, and experience the rich multicultural communities in and around Toronto.

EDGE is a portal to key life experiences:
• Connect with students at home,
• Connect with students on exchange,
• Experience new professors and communities,
• Work in cutting-edge academic / research environments,
• Strengthen leadership skills,
• Appreciate the diversity of education in Canada,
• Build national citizenship skills.

Program Information
EDGE is a one-academic-semester exchange program offered to students in the first semester (i.e. ,September to December) of third year. The 2009 program is open to UPEI and Ryerson students in Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Business, Arts and Contemporary Studies. Courses taken at the host university should be carefully selected, in consultation with your program director, to ensure maximum credit towards your degree. All exchange students will have the opportunity to participate in research-related projects or get on-campus part-time jobs.

Financial Information
Students participating in the EDGE program pay tuition at their home university. Students are responsible for travel, accommodation and living expenses during the exchange semester. In addition, a limited number of EDGE Opportunity Scholarships (valued at $750) are available.

Eligibility
To be eligible, students must be registered in one of the undergraduate programs listed above at Ryerson University or the University of Prince Edward Island, and be in their second year of study at the time of the application. Students must have a minimum CGPA of 2.5 and have clear academic standing.

Application Procedure
Interested students are asked to submit an application package consisting of 1) a resume, 2) a 1-page statement of interest in the EDGE student exchange program and 3) a copy of academic transcripts. By applying, students agree that their academic record can be reviewed by the selection committee at their home institution. Applications will be automatically considered for EDGE Opportunity Scholarships. The deadline for receipt of applications is March 6th, 2009.
